Abstract


Study on the Relationship between the Fluoride Contents in Drinking Water and the Dental Caries Experience Rates of School Children in Korea
The auther had observed the fluoride contents in such drinking water as public supplied water, well water, pump water and hot spring water, and the dental caries experience rate and index of school children in hot and non-hot spring areas in Korea who were seven, eleven and fourteen years old.
The obtained_ major results were as follows:
1. The fluoride contents in the drinking water in the hot spring areas with the exception of hot spring water and well water in the Dongrae hot spring area were too less to prevent the occurrence of dental caries.
2. The occurrence rate of mottled teeth in the hot spring area was higher than that in the non-hot spring area.
?. The experience rate and index of the dental caries in the hot spring area were lower than those in the non-hot spring area.
4. The fluoride in the drinking water prevents the dental caries occurrence.
5. In Korea, the water fluoridation has been requested in order to improve the health of the nation.
